Sweet cherry trees from our nursery in Podkarpacie<\/strong> \u2014 budded on the farm, on rootstocks matched to your soil and to the purpose of the planting. The sweet cherry is demanding in terms of soil and warmth, but it is also one of the most profitable species in commercial growing. Two decisions matter most: the site \u2014 sunny, sheltered, free of cold-air pockets \u2014 and the pollination group, because not every pair of varieties will pollinate each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we supply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We grow one-year-old trees with a feathered crown<\/strong> \u2014 maidens that have already put out side shoots in their first season. The crown is therefore started: there is no need to build it from scratch, and the tree comes into bearing earlier than an unfeathered whip. For commercial plantings this makes training to a chosen system easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We supply material bare-root \u2014 this is the standard in nursery production and the best way to get a tree to establish well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When to plant a sweet cherry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The sweet cherry is sensitive to frost damage in its first year \u2014 young trees are safest planted in spring (March\u2013April). Autumn planting is possible, but only early (October) and with earthing-up and trunk protection as a matter of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The nursery is in Mielec county, Podkarpacie \u2014 close to the counties of Tarnobrzeg, D\u0119bica, Kolbuszowa and Ropczyce-S\u0119dzisz\u00f3w and to Tarn\u00f3w, Rzesz\u00f3w and Sandomierz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Do sweet cherries need a pollinator?<\/summary>\n

      All the varieties in our range are self-sterile and need a pollinator flowering at the same time. In addition, sweet cherries follow pollination-compatibility groups, so not every pair of varieties will work. When you order we help put together a set that pollinates properly.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      In which year will a sweet cherry start to fruit?<\/summary>\n

      On the Colt rootstock the first fruit is usually picked in the 4th\u20135th year after planting, with full cropping from the 6th\u20137th year.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      What soil suits sweet cherries best?<\/summary>\n

      The sweet cherry needs fertile, deep, free-draining and warm soil with a neutral reaction (pH 6.5\u20137.2). It will not tolerate waterlogged ground or frost pockets. The site should be sunny and sheltered from wind.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      How many sweet cherries per hectare?<\/summary>\n

      At 5 \u00d7 3.5 m spacing on Colt that is about 570 trees per hectare. The sweet cherry needs spacing that lets plenty of light into the crown.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      Do you ship trees by courier?<\/summary>\n

      Yes, shipping is possible. We dispatch bare-root material during the lifting season \u2014 in autumn and early spring; outside that season we do not lift trees. Personal collection at the farm is also possible. Shipping cost and date are agreed by phone.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
