Apricot trees from our nursery in Podkarpacie<\/strong> \u2014 budded on the farm, on rootstocks matched to your soil and to the purpose of the planting. We take our scions from our own scion orchard and our rootstocks from our own stool beds. We sell both retail and wholesale.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The apricot is a warmth-loving species that succeeds in Polish conditions mainly on sheltered, warm sites. The main threat is not winter frost but spring frosts \u2014 the apricot flowers very early, and a single cold night during flowering can cost the whole crop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we supply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We grow one-year-old trees with a feathered crown<\/strong> \u2014 maidens that have already put out side shoots in their first season. The crown is therefore started: there is no need to build it from scratch, and the tree comes into bearing earlier than an unfeathered whip. For commercial plantings this makes training to a chosen system easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We supply material bare-root \u2014 this is the standard in nursery production and the best way to get a tree to establish well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When to plant an apricot tree<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We plant apricots in spring \u2014 ideally in March or April, once hard frosts are over. Autumn planting is risky in our conditions: young trees are prone to frost damage to the trunk and the graft union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The nursery is in Mielec county, Podkarpacie \u2014 close to the counties of Tarnobrzeg, D\u0119bica, Kolbuszowa and Ropczyce-S\u0119dzisz\u00f3w and to Tarn\u00f3w, Rzesz\u00f3w and Sandomierz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Do apricots need a pollinator?<\/summary>\n

      Harcot is self-fertile \u2014 a single tree will set fruit. Goldrich needs a pollinator and does best in the company of Harcot. A second variety always improves fruit set.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      In which year will an apricot start to fruit?<\/summary>\n

      The apricot comes into bearing relatively quickly \u2014 the first fruit is usually picked in the 3rd\u20134th year after planting, with full cropping from the 5th\u20136th year.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      What soil suits apricots best?<\/summary>\n

      The apricot needs free-draining, warm soil that is not too moist, with a neutral to slightly alkaline reaction (pH 6.8\u20137.5). It absolutely will not tolerate standing water or frost pockets.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      How many apricots per hectare?<\/summary>\n

      At 5 \u00d7 4 m spacing that is about 500 trees per hectare. The apricot needs spacing that keeps the crown well ventilated.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      Do you ship trees by courier?<\/summary>\n

      Yes, shipping is possible. We dispatch bare-root material during the lifting season \u2014 in autumn and early spring; outside that season we do not lift trees. Personal collection at the farm is also possible. Shipping cost and date are agreed by phone.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
