The nectarine is a smooth-skinned form of the peach \u2014 cultivation is almost identical, but the demand for warmth is even higher. We grow the Harco variety, which copes best with the Polish climate of all the nectarines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We run our own scion orchard and rootstock stool beds<\/a> \u2014 this is where the scions and rootstocks for our trees come from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we supply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We grow one-year-old trees with a feathered crown<\/strong> \u2014 maidens that have already put out side shoots in their first season. The crown is therefore started: there is no need to build it from scratch, and the tree comes into bearing earlier than an unfeathered whip. For commercial plantings this makes training to a chosen system easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We supply material bare-root \u2014 this is the standard in nursery production and the best way to get a tree to establish well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When to plant a nectarine tree<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We plant nectarines in spring only \u2014 in March or April. This is the most frost-sensitive species in our whole range; autumn planting in Podkarpacie conditions usually ends with the loss of the tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Collection all year round<\/strong> \u2014 the farm is open and material can be collected at a convenient time. We only ask for a phone call in advance so that we can prepare the order.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    We serve mainly Podkarpacie and Ma\u0142opolska \u2014 the counties of Mielec, Tarnobrzeg, D\u0119bica, Kolbuszowa and Ropczyce-S\u0119dzisz\u00f3w, as well as the areas around Tarn\u00f3w, Rzesz\u00f3w and Sandomierz. For larger orders we arrange transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Do nectarines need a pollinator?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Harco is a self-fertile variety \u2014 a single tree will set fruit without the need to plant a pollinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In which year will a nectarine start to fruit?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The nectarine fruits early \u2014 the first crop is usually picked in the 2nd\u20133rd year after planting, with full cropping in the 4th\u20135th. The trees are shorter-lived than pome fruit, usually 12\u201315 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      What soil suits nectarines best?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The nectarine needs light, free-draining and warm soil with a slightly acid to neutral reaction. The site must be as warm and sheltered as possible \u2014 ideally a south-facing wall or a south-facing slope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How many nectarines per hectare?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      At 5 \u00d7 4 m spacing that is about 500 trees per hectare. Like the peach, the nectarine fruits on one-year-old shoots and needs plenty of light in the crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Do you ship trees by courier?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Yes, shipping is possible. We dispatch bare-root material during the lifting season \u2014 in autumn and early spring; outside that season we do not lift trees. Personal collection at the farm is also possible. Cost and delivery date are agreed by phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
