Plum trees from our nursery in Podkarpacie — budded on the farm, on rootstocks matched to your soil and to the purpose of the planting. We take our scions from our own scion orchard and our rootstocks from our own stool beds. We sell both retail and wholesale.

The plum is one of the least demanding species in the orchard — it copes well with the Polish climate and forgives more mistakes than the sweet cherry or the apricot. We grow both classic węgierka types for preserves and drying, and dessert varieties for eating fresh.

We run our own scion orchard and rootstock stool beds — this is where the scions and rootstocks for our trees come from.

What we supply

We grow one-year-old trees with a feathered crown — maidens that have already put out side shoots in their first season. The crown is therefore started: there is no need to build it from scratch, and the tree comes into bearing earlier than an unfeathered whip. For commercial plantings this makes training to a chosen system easier.

We supply material bare-root — this is the standard in nursery production and the best way to get a tree to establish well.

When to plant a plum tree

The plum takes well to autumn planting — ideally from mid-October to mid-November, for as long as the ground is not frozen. In cooler regions and in frost pockets where cold air collects, spring planting (March–April) is often the safer option.

Retail and wholesale

• Retail — personal collection at the farm in Dąbie, no minimum order. Advice on choosing varieties and rootstocks is included.
• Wholesale — for fruit growers, garden centres and nurseries. We prepare the material for an agreed date; quotations are individual, depending on quantity, varieties and rootstocks.
• Collection all year round — the farm is open and material can be collected at a convenient time. We only ask for a phone call in advance so that we can prepare the order.

We serve mainly Podkarpacie and Małopolska — the counties of Mielec, Tarnobrzeg, Dębica, Kolbuszowa and Ropczyce-Sędziszów, as well as the areas around Tarnów, Rzeszów and Sandomierz. For larger orders we arrange transport.

Frequently asked questions about plum tree seedlings

Do plum trees need a pollinator?

Some of the varieties in our range are self-fertile — Węgierka Zwykła, Węgierka Dąbrowicka and Stanley will set fruit on their own. Rengloda, Ulena, Amers and Prezydent need another variety flowering at the same time nearby. Even self-fertile varieties crop more heavily with a second variety close by.

In which year will a plum tree start to fruit?

We grow plums on myrobalan, a vigorous rootstock — the first fruit is usually picked in the 4th–5th year after planting, with full cropping from the 6th–7th. Stanley and Węgierka Dąbrowicka tend to come into bearing a year earlier.

What soil suits plum trees best?

The plum likes fertile, free-draining and reasonably moist soils with a slightly acid to neutral reaction. It does poorly on dry, sandy sites and where water stands in winter.

How many plum trees per hectare?

On myrobalan at the recommended 5 × 4 m spacing that is about 500 trees per hectare. At a closer 4.5 × 3.5 m spacing, about 630. We match the exact spacing to the variety, the soil and your machinery.

Do you ship trees by courier?

Yes, shipping is possible. We dispatch bare-root material during the lifting season — in autumn and early spring; outside that season we do not lift trees. Personal collection at the farm is also possible. Cost and delivery date are agreed by phone.
